Tilia americana
Commonly called American Basswood, the American Linden is a medium to large deciduous tree with an ovate, dome crown. Large, dark green, oval leaves and fragrant flowers in June. The bark is a gray to light brown, with narrow, well defined fissures. Drooping clusters of small, fragrant, yellowish-white flowers. Attracts birds and butterflies. Often used as a specimen or dense shade tree.
